Privacy

Fast-Mood has no accounts, no passwords and no email addresses. Here is exactly what is stored when you post a mood.

Location

If you allow browser geolocation, your coordinates are used once — to place your mood and to look up the name of the place — and then blurred by up to about 1.1 km before anything is written to the database. The exact position never reaches storage. If you decline, we fall back to a country-level guess from your connection, which is coarser still.

Identity

Your browser holds a random device token in a cookie. The database stores only an HMAC of it, which is what rate limiting uses. IP addresses are never stored: they are hashed with a salt that rotates daily, so the same address cannot be linked across two days.

There are no accounts, so a journal lives in that cookie and nowhere else — clear it and the journal is unreachable, for us as much as for you. If you want to keep one across browsers, your journal page can show a recovery link that carries the same token. Nothing is sent to us when you create it, and nobody can guess one; but anyone you give it to can open that journal, and it cannot be revoked afterwards.

What is public

The mood family and nuances you pick, the intensity, the blurred coordinates, and the note if you write one. Notes are public — do not put anything in them you would not put on a postcard.

Third parties

There is no advertising network on this site, and nothing here is used to profile you.

Audience measurement

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages people reach. Google uses your IP address to work out roughly where you are and then discards it — GA4 does not log or store IP addresses, and that is not something this site could switch off even if it wanted to. The advertising features of the product — remarketing, ad personalisation, sharing with advertisers — are switched off in the configuration this site sends.

It sets cookies in your browser, named _ga and _ga_<id>, which distinguish one visitor from another for up to two years. They carry a random identifier and nothing you have written here: your moods, your notes and your journal are never sent to Google.

Measurement starts when the page loads. To opt out, use your browser's tracking protection, an extension that blocks Google Analytics, or Google's own opt-out add-on. The dismissal of the notice is kept in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie. Google's own opt-out add-on.

Every mood has a permalink. Send it to hello@fast-mood.com and it will be deleted.
